Manchester United have subsequently been linked with a move for Martinez amid continued doubts over current first choice stopper Andre Onana. The Red Devils reportedly even considered an approach in January but were put off by Aston Villa's asking price. Martinez's wife has now shared her thoughts on the situation and has played down talk of a move away from Villa.
WHAT MANDINHA SAID
She told Ed James on BBC WM: "He wasn't in tears. No. Anybody who knows Emi knows he is an emotional character and that's who he is. It just shows you how much he loves the Villa fans. I love the Villa fans. We love Villa."
