Leeds United correspondent Beren Cross has revealed that Stuart Dallas managed to leave Goodison Park unaided following the 3-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday.
The Lowdown: Dallas injury
Dallas has been an ever-present figure under Marcelo Bielsa and starred in the club’s first season back in the Premier League, winning multiple end of season awards.
Starting 106 of the last 107 games, Dallas once again featured from the off at the weekend but was forced off through injury after just nine minutes.
The Northern Irishman was replaced by Leo Hjelde in a left-wing back role in what was the beginning of an afternoon to forget on Merseyside.
The Latest: Cross’ comments
Relaying his LeedsLive Q&A on Tuesday morning, Cross was asked by one fan for an update on Dallas’ injury.
He revealed that the 30-year-old managed to leave the stadium unassisted – a positive update ahead of learning more on his condition later in the week.
“We don’t know the specifics yet, no. Bielsa said it was too soon after the match on Saturday to provide any details, but we do know it has to have a degree of severity to have forced someone like Dallas off, but it was not so serious he could not walk away from Goodison Park without assistance after full-time.”
The Verdict: Fingers crossed
Dallas has become a key player for Leeds under Bielsa, with his versatility proving crucial for the Argentine over the years.
He has already turned out in six different positions this season, with the majority of his appearances coming at full-back. Leeds have had their injury issues in that area with Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton all missing large portions of the campaign.
So, on that basis, Whites fans will be keeping everything crossed that the update on Dallas will be a positive one. No official news so far could be a positive sign, with Leeds having three big games in a week starting with Manchester United on Sunday.
