Leeds United’s U23 side put on a great performance on Sunday as they beat Hull’s youth outfit 5-0.

Carlos Corberan’s side have had huge success in recent times under the Spaniard’s tutelage as they won the PDL National title last term, and a number of youngsters have broken through to the first team in recent times.

The likes of Jack Clarke, Jamie Shackleton and Jordan Stevens have all come through to make their league debuts over the past 18 months, and it seems as if there’s another talent emerging.

Alfie McCalmont was in good form against the Tigers, and his performance was capped off by a brilliant goal to make it 5-0.

Understandably, some fans were in awe of McCalmont after this showing and they took to Twitter to wax lyrical about the youngster.

Another section of the fanbase were even more impressed by the teenager as they were calling for him to get a chance in the first team sooner rather than later.

Of course, seeing a midfield talent develop in the academy has led to comparisons with players already starring in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

A number of supporters were quick to draw comparisons with Kalvin Phillips as one fan even called him the long term replacement for the man known as the Yorkshire Pirlo.
