According to The Athletic’s Tim Spiers, Wolverhampton Wanderers are big admirers of Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen and could look at him as one of the options to strengthen their attack in the near future.
The same source claims it would take a bid around £20m to land the young forward.
Call yourself a Wolves expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?
Of course, even though he is currently playing his football down in the Championship, Bowen has regularly been linked with Premier League clubs with the likes of Newcastle United, West Brom and even Tottenham Hotspur reported admirers.
However, looking at the player, it’s difficult to escape the feeling that he would be a fantastic addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad and could even offer a similar level of attacking output to Raul Jimenez.
Of course, comparing the two like for like overlooks the fact Bowen is still in the Championship while Jimenez is thriving in the elite tier of English football. The difference in minutes played this season is also relatively significant as well.
But overall, it is a good way of actually seeing whether Bowen has the quality necessary to compete on a higher platform, and by analysing his figures in the ongoing 2019/20 season, he passes the test with flying colours.
It has to be noted, however, that all stats were taken before the weekend’s games.
Bowen’s goal contribution is simply astonishing as he boasts 16 strikes and six assists as well, edging out Jimenez’s eight and six respectively.
But what could prove vital for Wolves is the creativity and versatility in his approach. According to Transfermarkt, despite primarily being used as a right-winger in the ongoing campaign, the 23-year-old has also been deployed as a centre-forward and a second-striker.
This means that he could not only be a back-up option for Adama Traore out wide but also for Jimenez through the middle channels as well.
We can also see that he’s quite creative with 1.8 dribbles and 1.3 key passes per game that can go toe to toe with Wolves’ frontman’s 1.7 and 1.6 respectively.
If Nuno wants to add another layer of quality and potential into his attack, Bowen is the perfect solution.
At £20m, he could be a financially appealing option in the context of the modern market.
